Ishmael and My Ishmael by Danielle Quinn - Fabulously interesting theorem about culture, told from the eyes of an outsider. AKA a gorilla named Ishmael! Will change your outlook on society and culture forever. Even cowgirls get the Blues by Tom Robbins - I also recommend every other Robbins book you can get your hands on. As of yet I’ve only read ECGtB, and skinny legs and all, but Toms style is…a wind of mind blowing! Even Cowgirls is about a lady born to Hitch, and about her incredible journey through life, learning about society, love, and different ness. Evasion, anonymous -Originally a zine chronicling some kids dumpster diving, hitchhiking, train hopping, theft and hoboing all across the USA. He developed a way to live his way, and wrote it all down in an engaging and fun way! Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by the one and only Hunter S Thompson -Simply THE best drug induced literature EVER! Insane, gonzo goodness. Snow White Russian Red by Dorota Maslowska - The brilliant cadence of Polish emglish translation. Brilliantly written, fucked up, drugged up wonder written by an 18 year old. The Lorax by Dr Seus - anything Seus. This one makes me cry everytime. the Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy by douglas Addams -Just bloody brilliant fun. Hillarious. A wonderful place to gain an outlook on life :D Cannery Row by John Steinbeck -Fabulous. The characters are so…mellow, alive…wonderful. Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk -Most people have seen the movie. If you have, and you liked it, the book is so much better! I’ve also read Choke, which is also awesome. Monkeys really don’t get enough acid in their diets… The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman -Brilliant! A favorite from childhood…I’ve read it…5? Times? Now? Not really sure. WONDERFUL. The main character is charming, tough shit, and FUN. The story and writing are just as good. Feel like taking down God/The Authority? Read the whole series: His Dark Materials. anything Irvine Welsh -for a sick good time Kurt Vonnegut - My personal favorite is Cats Cradle, but there are so many fabulous ones its hard to say. Sirens of Titan is also fabulous, and you will often have the pleasure of recognising characters from other books, wandering through the landscape. V mans got style! I also enjoy comic books and stuffs. My current favorites are: Kabuki Alchemy by David Mack -FABULOUS art (incredible mixed media) FABULOUS story! About a Lady escaping her past, and recreating herself. Incredible. Really, read it. BLAME! By Nihei Tsutomu Follow Killy (yes, he is murderous) through an incredible possibly futuristic possibly earth of underground levels full of silicate cyborgs, and incredible architecture of tunnels, columns rooms and pipes. If you have a fetish for robots/cyborgs (like me) and dirty reallyreallycool architecture (like me) read it. Its really an urbex-er’s wet dream! No wonder, Tsutomu was a student of architecture. The Maxx by Sam Keith About a crazy homeless guy who lives partially in ‘our’ reality and partially in a place he calls ‘the putback’ and thinks he’s a superhero. Turns out, he’s right ;) Im a big Sam Keith fan, really. Zero girl was also awesome. Especially because the main character shared my creepy obsession with circles. Sure hers came alive and stuff and mine just sit there…but….shut up!   | ||
